Freeschoolers is an interest-led and student-driven cooperative for all types of homeschoolers and their families. Most classes offered are either completely free or have minimal cost involved for materials. Freeschoolers is a place where your family can come for a day of enrichment, to make new friends, and to offer support to other homeschooling families.
All of our teachers and volunteers are Freeschooling parents, family members or students. Classes will range from pre-K through adult, depending on demand and volunteers. If you wish to volunteer to teach a class or lead a club, please contact Kandye Tucker at (863) 221-2217 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are two semesters per year at Freeschoolers (Fall and Spring) and we follow the Polk County Schools calendar. We meet once per week, on WEDNESDAY at the Boys and Girls Club of Lakeland/Mulberry, 950 Pinewood Avenue, Lakeland, Florida. Some classes are semester-long and some may be “specials” offered for one day or a few weeks.
Freeschoolers is not a faith-based co-op (we are not connected to any religion or faith-based system ). Every family that participates is expected to lend a helping hand in some capacity to help us thrive. We welcome all families and we value and appreciate diversity.
Freeschoolers is a Cooperative
This means that we are all one family of diverse homeschoolers that are joining together to educate our children. Every person plays an important part in our group. Whether they are teaching, helping with paperwork, donating supplies, volunteering to watch our kids in common areas, putting together celebrations for our kiddos, or helping with clean up, it all helps our co-op to run smoothly. It is essential that we all do everything we can to make our group thrive!
